Oncology Data Advisor® Fellows Forum


Oncology Data Advisor® is excited to announce the launch of the Fellows Forum, a new resource featuring expert perspectives geared toward Hematology/Oncology Fellows. In this interview, Dr. Samuel Kareff, Chief Hematology/Oncology Fellow at the University of Miami's Sylvester Cancer Center, discusses the educational topics that he is looking forward to sharing his insights on as a Fellows Forum member, including tips for fellowship application, specialty pros and cons, research advances, and collaborations with policymakers and patient advocacy groups.  



Samuel Kareff, MD, MPH

Samuel Kareff, MD, MPH, is a Medical Oncologist and a Hematology-Oncology Fellow at the University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. He has special research interests in health advocacy, public policy, and the development of cancer therapies.

Alankrita Taneja, MD

Alankrita Taneja, MD, is a Hematology/Oncology Fellow at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is interested in multiple myeloma and cellular therapies and is passionate about humanism and equitable care. 

Matthew Hadfield, DO

Matthew Hadfield, DO, is a Hematology/Oncology Fellow at Brown University/Legoretta Cancer Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Prior to fellowship, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Connecticut in 2021. Dr. Hadfield’s research focuses on melanoma and early-phase clinical trials. To date, he has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and studies, and he has presented his research at multiple national and international meetings. His main areas of interest include early-phase drug development, novel immunotherapeutic combinations to overcome therapeutic resistance, and predictive biomarkers for immunotherapy toxicities.

Richa Thakur, MD

Richa Thakur, MD, is both a Palliative Care Physician and Hematology/Oncology Fellow at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Health. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's in chemistry, medical school at Texas A&M, residency in Internal Medicine, and a fellowship Palliative Care at Zucker School of Medicine. Her research interests include improving quality of life in patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancies.

Waqas Haque, MD, MPH

Waqas Haque, MD, MPH, is a third-year Internal Medicine Resident at New York University (NYU) in a Clinical Investigator Track. He recently matched to the University of Chicago for fellowship, which he will be beginning later in 2024. As a Clinical Investigator Track Resident, Dr. Haque has balanced his patient care work with a variety of research projects. During his fellowship training at University of Chicago,  he plans to further his work in innovative clinical trial design, value-based care delivery to cancer patients, and clinical investigation.

Nida Khan, MD

Nida Khan, MD, is a Medical Oncology and Palliative Care Fellow at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She is passionate about treating cancer and cancer-related symptoms with a focus in thoracic malignancies. She also has specific interests in global health and education as applied to palliative care and oncology. Dr. Khan has taken part in several global health initiatives, including working with palliative care and oncology patients in Uganda.
