A Letter to Oncology Data Advisor Readers From Rahul Banerjee, MD, FACP, and Thomas Abrams, MD
Oncology Data Advisor is excited to announce that Rahul Banerjee, MD, FACP, has been appointed the new Editor in Chief. Dr. Banerjee, an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Oncology at the University of Washington, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, has taken over the role from Thomas Abrams, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, who has served in the role since 2021. They are both excited about the transition and have written brief outro and intro letters to Oncology Data Advisor readers as they pass the baton.
Thomas Abrams, MD: I have had the abiding privilege to be the Editor in Chief of Oncology Data Advisor for the past two years. I can say without hesitation that it has been a highlight of my professional life. I am proud of all we accomplished during my tenure, but none of it would have been possible without the dedication, wisdom, and guidance of our Editorial team, led by Senior Editor, Keira Smith. They have beat the pavement, attending countless meetings and performing on-the-ground interviews of thought leaders and research luminaries. They also got critical buy-in from oncology trainees, many of whom are now involved in our new Fellows Forum. All these efforts have made OncData a premier resource for dissemination of cutting-edge oncology thought. I owe them a sincere debt of gratitude.
One of Keira's most important decisions was adding Dr. Rahul Banerjee to the Editorial Board as the next Editor in Chief. Rahul, an accomplished physician scientist in multiple myeloma at Fred Hutchinson in Seattle, has been one of our most active and insightful board members, and it is my great honor to introduce him as our next Editor in Chief. I am confident he will provide hands-on leadership that will further cement OncData in the pantheon of oncology websites for professionals. I am excited to see how the site will continue to evolve and shape the always-rich conversation in cancer medicine.

It's been a pleasure working with Dr. Abrams and learning from all the incredible podcasts, interviews, continuing medical education (CME) courses, and more on this website. What I love about the content here is its informal nature. I know that might seem like an odd way to describe educational content, but it reflects how all of us actually learn in the health care field—not from press releases, not from written articles that delve deep into decimal points, but really from conversations with our colleagues. Oncology Data Advisor has done a fantastic job here.
In my field of multiple myeloma, for example, there's as much content here about practical dosing tips and supportive care as there is about progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Many interviews are with fellows and advanced practice providers, making this a fabulous resource to learn from the front lines of how cancer is treated. I'm excited for more growth in the year to come as we expand to more meetings and more readers!
